Franklin Shen

Senior Consultant

Franklin Shen is a Senior Consultant in the Philadelphia office of DSI. He focuses on helping both organizations and leaders grow, develop, and succeed in any environment. However the problem or need is not always clear. Franklin loves helping surfacing strategic issues and determining the different ways to address them. “There can be multiple ways to approach a problem – discovering these paths is the challenge and joy of the work.”

At DSI, Franklin has developed and leveraged several frameworks including scenario planning, blue ocean strategy, competitive wargaming, and dynamic monitoring. His expertise in the tools, processes, and analytical skills have helped him to develop strategic plans, competitive strategies, and growth agendas for a number of clients. He has also helped developed a number of leaders through the design and delivery of executive development programs ranging from small boards to large high potential cohorts of global companies. He has contributed to a number of publications and reports including, Scenarios for the Future of Human Resource Management, Navigating Uncertainty: Future Scenarios for Technology Services, Brilliant Mistakes, and Winning the Long Game: How Strategic Leaders Shape the Future.

Through his work, he has worked across a number of industries and companies, including clients such as AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Comcast, DARPA, DuPont, GE, GSK, Lockheed Martin, Marriott, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Microsoft, NASA, NY Life and the U.S. Navy. His experience also includes work with smaller and mid-sized organizations ranging from regional non-profits to small credit unions. Within the Philadelphia region, he has helped the Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation, the Economy League of Philadelphia, the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and the Free Library of Philadelphia.

Previous to DSI, he worked with Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, he aided in due diligence of ventures and research of investment opportunities across a variety of fields. Franklin holds a BAS in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and continues to serve in leadership roles with the university. He has also spearheaded a number of independent business ventures, including a film festival and a mobile dessert truck. Through his work and endeavors, Franklin periodically lectures at the University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and Philadelphia University as well as serves on the boards for a few organizations.
