CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., June 8, 2015 – Decision Strategies International (DSI), a leading future-focused consulting firm, today announced the addition of four seasoned consulting professionals to its global team. Joining DSI are Sarah Schwab, partner; Brendan O’Brien, senior principal; Dr. Jan Oliver Schwarz, associate principal; and Dr. Nanda Ramanujam, strategic partner/affiliate. The new team members will support the international expansion of DSI’s strategy and leadership development practices in the healthcare, technology and defense industries, as well as the company’s commitment to client service excellence.
“Today’s businesses are operating in an increasingly uncertain, volatile and rapidly changing world,” says Paul J.H. Schoemaker, founder and executive chair of DSI. “As a result, more and more companies are grappling with how to navigate market shifts and succeed in the long term. The additions of Sarah, Brendan, Jan and Nanda to our firm will enhance our ability to provide our clients with best-in-class solutions to help them sharpen their strategic edge and seize opportunity in these uncertain times. We are pleased to welcome each of them to DSI and know that our clients will be impressed by the added knowledge and experience that each brings to the table.”
A partner based in DSI’s London office, Sarah Schwab will focus on executive development, strategic consulting and organizational consultation services. She brings extensive leadership development experience to the firm, having worked with clients in Europe, the U.S., the Middle East and Southeast Asia to develop leaders who manage operations in fast-growing, culturally diverse, complex and often volatile markets. Prior to joining DSI, Schwab was an Executive Director and General Manager at Thunderbird School of Global Management and a Managing Director at the Corporate Executive Board where she ran their EMEA Finance and Strategy Division.
Brendan O’Brien brings more than twenty years of experience in the managed healthcare and life sciences industries to DSI, having worked and lived in several countries globally through his career in executive management, marketing operations and strategic development. In his role as senior principal out of DSI’s Conshohocken, Pa. office, O’Brien will leverage this experience to benefit new and existing clients by building organizational capabilities in robust business planning through future uncertainties. Prior to coming to DSI, Brendan was Vice President of Strategic Planning & Analysis for North America for Sanofi, Inc., and also held senior operational and strategic leadership roles at Pfizer pharmaceuticals in Europe.
In his role as associate principal at DSI, Dr. Jan Oliver Schwarz will head the firm’s new Munich operations, where he will focus on future-oriented strategy development, including business war gaming and scenario planning. Prior to DSI, Schwarz worked for Allianz, Europe’s largest insurance company, in various strategy functions, having built up a corporate foresight process and pioneered scenario planning. He is also a Research Associate at the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark. Schwarz is the co-author of “Business Wargaming: Securing Corporate Value” and has published widely on corporate foresight.
Nanda Ramanujam, PhD, MBA, is a strategic partner and affiliate of DSI, focused on expanding the firm’s government and technology consulting practices. Based in Washington D.C., he has been a technology and strategy executive across multiple industries including telecom, healthcare and defense, and was most recently CTO at the U.S. subsidiary of the Defense multinational company Finmeccanica. With his broad technical background, Ramanujam brings a richly-informed perspective on the challenges of leveraging technology for strategic advantage. Ramanujam is a longtime collaborator of Paul J.H. Schoemaker, DSI’s founder and executive chairman, and has made important contributions to several scenario planning-based strategy studies in the biosciences and medical devices sectors.
